Our Doctors

STEVEN KAUFTHEIL

Dr. Steven Kauftheil, DDS, is a caring and devoted prosthodontist at ToothDocs, with locations in Roslyn, New York, and two offices in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Dr. Kauftheil is highly experienced in general dentistry and specialized techniques such as restorative, cosmetic, and implant dentistry.

After earning his Bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University in New York, Dr. Kauftheil received his medical doctorate from the School of Dental Medicine at Stony Brook. He went on to complete additional prosthetic dentistry training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Many patients choose a prosthodontist as a general dentist because of their rigorous education in general dentistry and their training in advanced dental techniques. Along with providing quality treatments, like the replacement and reconstruction of teeth, Dr. Kauftheil believes in giving each patient a level of personal commitment that makes them feel both comfortable and informed about their options.

Dr. Kauftheil is a member of the American Dental Association and the American College of Prosthodontics. Additionally, he regularly takes continuing education courses to offer his patients the latest dental treatments, including those in cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign®, and smile makeovers.

NAZLI DIBA

Dr. Nazli Diba, DDS, is a devoted pediatric dentist working with children and their families at ToothDocs with locations in Roslyn, New York, and two offices in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. Dr. Diba sees patients from infancy through adolescence, working to provide the gentlest and kindest care.

Dr. Diba received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. She went on to complete her residencies in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry at UCLA and Long Island Jewish Hospital. Dr. Diba has also received special training in the treatment of cleft lip, cleft palate, and special needs dentistry.

Going to the dentist can be stressful for a child, particularly when the territory is unknown. In working with her younger patients and their parents, Dr. Diba works hard to create an office environment that is warm and welcoming. Her goal is to make a trip to the dentist easy.

Common Dental Emergencies

Toothaches

One of the most common dental emergencies is tooth pain or dental pain, which can be caused by various factors such as cavities, gum infections, or even a cracked tooth. The intense pain experienced during a toothache can be debilitating and may require immediate attention from a dentist to diagnose and treat the underlying cause.

Broken Tooth

A broken tooth can occur due to trauma or biting into hard objects. When a tooth breaks, it not only causes discomfort but also poses risks for infection and further damage if left untreated. Seeking prompt dental care is crucial in order to assess the extent of the breakage and determine appropriate treatment options.

Chipped Tooth

Similar to a broken tooth, a chipped tooth is another common dental emergency that often results from accidents or injuries. While some cases may involve minor chips with no significant pain or sensitivity, larger chips can expose the inner layers of the teeth, making them more susceptible to decay and additional damage.

Loose Tooth

Having loose teeth as an adult is generally abnormal and requires immediate attention. This condition may indicate advanced gum disease, bone loss around the affected tooth, or injury. It's important to seek professional help promptly since saving a loose tooth depends on identifying its root cause early on.

Missing Tooth

A missing tooth could occur due to several reasons, including trauma, severe decay leading to extraction, or natural causes like the aging process (tooth falling out). Regardless of how it happens, though, replacing missing teeth should not be delayed as it can affect both aesthetics and oral function significantly.
